On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a college admissions officer from the University of Florida (abbreviated to UF) came to visit LRHS. The representative walked students through the application process, introduced different courses the university offers, information about campus life, and answered any questions.

The University of Florida is located in Gainesville, Florida and has an acceptance rate of approximately 24% as of 2025. It is best known for offering majors such as engineering, business, biomedical sciences, health professions, social sciences, and communications or journalism.

Blake Annison, senior, attended the university’s college visit at Leesville, he said, “[The visit] was good, I thought it was very informational and [there were] lots of good pointers on what you need to do to apply, kind of what the competition looks like.”  Annison hopes to take an official tour of the campus in the future and plans to major in marketing. He said, “Their marketing program is a big drawing point for me. It’s one of the best in the country, I think they’re actually ranked 1st, so that’s the major I’m looking at.”

Aside from its high academic standards, the university is also known for its successful athletic program, the Florida Gators. In addition to athletics, the university was recently named a “New Ivy” by Forbes for its accomplished graduates and high investment returns.

Parker Booth, junior, also attended the college visit, he said, “I thought [the visit] was very educational, I learned a lot about the University of Florida, a lot about their majors and just campus life.” Booth has already taken a tour of the campus and was very impressed by its beauty and explained how the UF is one of her top schools. She said, “[I like] their sports and everything. Their football field, their baseball field, I feel like the atmosphere is very spirited.” Booth plans to major in aviation in college.

The Early Action application deadline for the University of Florida is November 1, 2025 and the Regular Decision application deadline is January 15, 2026.
