Community Cares Club is back for another school year at Leesville

The Community Cares Club had its first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 25th! Members created thoughtful cards for LRHS counselors.

Natalie Vargas-Kitchens, senior and president, said, “The counselors always work really hard at the beginning of the year. They are constantly changing schedules and getting transcripts sorted for the seniors, so we just wanted to do something to show how much we appreciate them.”

Vargas, along with the other officers — Becca Moore, Chloe Cragg, and Avery Carroll —delivered the cards to room 3 on Friday morning.

“It was nice to see how much they appreciated it,” said Moore.

The Community Cares Club has been in existence since the previous school year. Each month, they choose a community in the area to highlight a service through Letters and cards.

“The mission is to spread kindness and positivity to every community within our own,” said Vargas-Kitchens.

The club has made cards for the local fire station, teachers, bone marrow transplant patients, and so much more.

Moore said, “Everyone should join Community Cares, it’s a really fun environment, and everyone is welcome. Anyone can join, and we love hearing from people about which community we should highlight next!”

They meet on the last Thursday of each month from 2:30 to 3 in room 260. Community Cares Club is a great way to get volunteer hours and show your appreciation for the community.

Catch them at their next meeting on Thursday, October 30.
