Leesville Women’s Tennis Suffers a Tough Loss Against Millbrook

On Monday, September 22, 2025, the Leesville Women’s Varsity Tennis Team traveled to Millbrook High School and suffered a tough 2-7 loss.

Going into the match, the Leesville team knew they would have to push above and beyond to pull out a win.

Morgan Beasley, freshman, said, “[Millbrook] is definitely a lot more intimidating because they have a harder team, knowing they play more aggressive and they’re gonna put up a bigger fight.”

The last time Leesville and Millbrook played — August 28, 2025 — Leesville was able to win two courts, singles 4 and singles 6. The team went into the match with the hope to win one more singles court and give them a chance to clinch the match with doubles.

Maren Hauge, sophomore and singles court 3, said, “..once we got [to Millbrook] we got a little bit more hype and the energy picked up a little. We didn’t have anything to lose… I think there was definitely hope to win this second time around.”

Despite a positive outlook, and matches that lasted 2.5 hours, Leesville lost every first round singles match.

In late August, Hauge was one of two to win singles. This time around, she lost her singles match in straight sets.

Hauge said, “I think I was a little bit off my game. My backhand was missing a lot more and I was just a lot less consistent than the last time. I think she was also playing better. The first time I was playing really good and she wasn’t playing as good and this time we kinda flipped.”

Even though Leesville already lost the overall match, they started a second round of doubles. The team was able to win two out of three doubles courts — court two, juniors Alexis Engelson and Isabel Snyder, won 8-6 and on court three, freshman Morgan Beasley and Fiona Snyder, won 8-6.

Beasley said, “I started thinking about [the match] as a win for me and my partner aside from the big team and how we could still help out and bring some motivation even though we had already lost.”

Leesville vs Millbrook was an opportunity for the women’s team to learn discipline and face hard matches head on. As they look to the future, each player will continue to grow in their game.
