2025 Homecoming Theme: Luau at Loonieville

Leesville’s Homecoming theme for 2025 is Luau at Loonieville, incorporating a fun, tropical and vibrant theme. The Homecoming Game is scheduled for October 10 and the dance is scheduled on the following day October 11. The officers of Leesville’s Executive Council chose the theme over the summer.

Kevin Dang, senior, member of Leesville’s Cheer and Stunt team, said, “I think [the theme] is pretty exciting.”

This year’s Homecoming Game and Dance have been split up into two separate days, unlike in the past where the dance took place directly after the game. Dang said, “After the game I’m pretty tired, and [then] you have to go to the dance, and it gets pretty tiring, so I think having them on a separate day could be more fun.”

Many students plan on going to Homecoming with a group of friends, or maybe even a date. Katie Frazier, freshmen, said, “I am extremely excited for [Homecoming]… [I am most looking forward to] taking all the pictures.” Frazier said she will most likely attend the Homecoming football game, where fun events such as Homecoming Court and student section activities take place.

The Executive Council toyed between a few different ideas for this school year’s Homecoming theme including rio carnival and neon glow. They ultimately settled with the luau theme.

Elisa Cha, senior and Vice President of Leesville’s Executive Council, said, “I think [the dance] is gonna be in [the auxiliary] gym again… Ms. Fields specifically said we’re not gonna [make the theme] tacky. No parrots, no Hawaiian skirts, but we’re gonna put hibiscus flowers… pastel colors, I think that’s the theme.”

When asked about the change in scheduling, Cha said, “A lot of people who were involved in football, band, and dance, they are too tired after the football game. And I think generally people don’t want to stay that late after school.”

This year’s Homecoming theme has the goal of getting students excited for the week of Homecoming and the fun activities and planning that goes into such a big event.
