Leesville Road High School stands out for its diverse clubs, student artwork that is displayed in the halls, and active participation in sports and other extracurricular activities.
Because of how many options there are, everyone can find something they’re interested in. “I like being able to do fun after-school activities. In other schools, I had to participate in clubs I didn’t like. But here I can find a club that I’m interested in,” said Maliyah Washington, sophomore.
The school also has a collaborative space in the main building where students can study, work on group projects, and hang out with friends in the morning; additionally, the Murphy Building has student art projects displayed around the halls. “My favorite part of the school is how much art we have, as well as the library, because I like to study there,” said Kimberling Fonseca Lopez, sophomore.
Leesville has many unique features, including chickens, student art in the halls, and the colorful bulletin boards. The unique clubs, such as the Songwriting Club, the Book Club, the Marine Ecology Club, and many others, reflect the school’s vibrant atmosphere.
Aside from extracurriculars, there are also events like spirit week, pep rallies, and concerts that help bring the student body together. “There’s something for everyone here. You can be into music, sports, or anything, and there’s always a way to be involved,” said Eli Singer, freshman.
From arts programs to athletic events, and even the presence of the school chickens, Leesville creates a memorable and engaging high school experience. There are clubs for everyone and their interests, as well as spaces like the library and the collaborative space that help students get a little quiet time during their busy day. All in all, Leesville has something for everyone, with many interesting and unique elements.
