End of the Carolina Hurricanes’ season

The Carolina Hurricanes concluded the 2024-25 season in second place in the Metropolitan Division, with a record of 47 wins, 30 losses, and 4 ties.

Their surprising seventh consecutive playoff run was cut short after losing the Eastern Conference final series against the Florida Panthers 4-1.

Lily Lesher, junior, said, “I felt the beginning was really good as we were up by two, but they kinda fell off. We didn’t really come back after the Panthers scored two goals in like 30 seconds.”

Garret Schofield, junior, said, “I thought it was a really great game, I thought it was good that we went out 2-0, but we lost it in the second period, we let them come back too hard.”

Despite the disappointment of falling short in the Eastern Conference finals, many fans recognized the Canes’ performance as much more resilient in the final game.

Schofield said, “We can’t really be mad at the canes for their performance, because they put up a fight and didn’t lose 6-0 like previous games. I didn’t really expect them to make it to the Eastern Conference finals because this was supposed to be a rebuilding year.”

Looking ahead, the Hurricanes will probably focus on fostering and strengthening their already solid roster further, as this year was a rebuilding season. Rod Brind’Amour and the rest of the Canes’ coaching and management team are likely to make various changes to strengthen their playoff chances going into the next season.
