Elise Gilmore is a 10th-grade student here at Leesville Road High School. Elise lives with her parents, younger sister, dog, cat, ten chickens, and other pets. At school, she is currently taking two AP classes along with the rest of her daily schedule. She also volunteers at UNC Chapel Hill’s hospital during the summer, and plans on volunteering at GalaxyCon.
During the school day, Elise juggles her daily schedule plus AP Government and AP Pre-Calculus classes while also going to the Marine Ecology club once a month; she also did makeup crew for Technical Theater for three semesters. “I keep a log of all the work I have to do, and that helps me stay organized,” said Elise Gilmore, sophomore. Throughout all of the work, she has maintained all A’s and kept on top of all of her work and other responsibilities.
After school, she spends her free time doing art and playing video games as well as volunteering and hanging out with her friends. “I enjoy volunteering at the hospital. I get to bring around a cart with tea and lavender towels, which is my favorite part of the job,” said Gilmore.
At home, she has an assortment of pets, including a dog named Henry, a cat named Bob, a bunny named Clio, a fish named Snack, and ten (outdoor) chickens. “It’s chaotic having that many pets, but I’m glad that I’m able to have them all,” said Gilmore.
Elise Gilmore balances a demanding academic schedule, volunteer work, and a busy home life with steady commitment. Despite the challenges, she continues to manage her responsibilities and maintain strong grades. Her involvement both in and out of school reflects a consistent effort to stay organized and engaged.
