AP exams are for two weeks straight, starting on May 5, 2025, and ending on May 16, 2025. These two weeks are consistently students’ favorite time of the year.
“I just love it so much. I take as many AP classes as possible, so I have lots of exams,” said Alex Ridge, senior.
Most AP exams are three to four hours long and consist of 50 or more multiple-choice questions, with assorted writing. These can range from short answer questions to full-length “essays”, requiring students to synthesize from several different documents.
“By the time you’re done with your exam, you’re exhausted…it’s so much fun,” said Jake Shearon, junior.
This year, the College Board switched the majority of AP exams to digital formats, which increased the fun factor for students. Among other exciting new things, they’re now responsible for pacing themselves throughout the hours-long exam, eliminating the need for any human involvement.
“Typically, the proctors will give you a heads up when the recommended amount of time for a question is up, or when there’s about 5 minutes left, but this year it was all up to you,” said Ridge.
“I have some friends who said they loved running out of time and not being able to finish,” said Shearon.
All in all, students are extremely excited for these two weeks of panic and exhaustion brought about by AP exams. It’s almost as if Christmas came early this year.
