How to choose the best jewlery for you

Silver and gold are the two most popular jewelry metals. They are favored for their beauty, durability, and availability.

It can be difficult to decide whether to invest in gold or silver jewelry.

To determine whether gold or silver complements you, consider your skin tone.

Gold complements warm undertones. If your skin has golden or yellow hues with greenish veins, then you likely have warm undertones.

On the other hand, silver complements cool undertones. If your skin has pink or blue undertones with blueish and purple veins, then you likely have cool undertones.

Look at your veins in natural daylight to determine your vein color and ultimately help your metal selection.

Other factors such as hair color and wardrobe can help determine your best metal choice. For example, individuals with dark hair and cool-toned wardrobes may find that silver enhances their overall look, while those with warm hair tones and earth-toned clothing may find that gold adds a flattering glow.

“I like gold jewelry because it compliments my skin better,” said Emma Cox, freshman. Cox has warm-toned skin and warm-toned hair.

Budget is another factor to take into consideration. Silver is typically more affordable than gold, making it a great option for everyday pieces. Meanwhile, gold is more of an investment and it may increase in value overtime.

Pure gold and sterling silver are also hypoallergenic, but fake jewelry can cause irritation for those with sensitive skin.

If it’s too hard to choose between silver or gold, rose gold and copper are alternative choices. Additionally, there is nothing wrong with mixing metals.
