Founded by senior, Andrew Miller, and senior, Claudia Wright, the Leesville Road High School Peace and Wellness club aims to improve mental well-being among Leesville students and contribute to a positive and relaxed community.
Students from grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend the monthly club meetings to learn tools to de-stress and have a safe space to relax after school.
“We are hoping to help people with their mental wellness and destigmatize mental health by doing yoga and having a relaxing place for people to talk about things or relax at the end of the school day and feel less stressed about their life,” said Claudia Wright, co-founder president and senior.
The club plans to meet monthly on Mondays after school to tackle the difficult topic of mental health through guided programs and relaxing activities.
“We are planning to do some meditation and yoga, we will have snacks at our interest meeting, and hopefully just listen to music and have a calm environment.. things like that,” said Wright.
