This year, the Earth and Sustainability Club is excited to introduce its new officer, Ruth Metaferia.

Taking the position of social media manager, Ruth Metaferia, junior, will be responsible for running the club’s TikTok.

“I’d love to see engagement from people in and even outside of Leesville so they can see how fun Earth and Sustainability Club is,” said Metaferia.

The club had their ‘24-’25 interest meeting on Friday, September 5. The meeting had over 50 people, making it a huge success.

Clara Davis, senior and one of the club’s presidents, said, “It made me so proud to see how far the club has come… we remember when the only people showing up were our friends who felt obligated to be there and now there’s a huge variety of people… It’s nice to see the club influencing new people!”

At the meeting, club co-presidents, Katie Carrigan and Davis, presented the club and its new officer to the students present.

Already on top of her officer duties, Metaferia took pictures and filmed content of the interest meeting; she was able to post the club’s first TikTok just a few hours after the meeting.
