Concerts in the Triangle Area

In recent years, concerts and live music events have gained popularity across all age groups. Concerts serve as more than just live music gatherings, but an opportunity for people to express themselves and foster a strong sense of community.

Benefits of concerts

One of the largest forces in the rise of concert culture in teenagers and young adults is the sense of community it fosters. Concerts provide a space where teens can be themselves, socialize with their peers, and immerse themselves in the music.

“I love being able to meet people and make new friends through concerts. We have a shared interest in music [therefore] relationships are easy to form. From my experience, people at concerts are generally very nice. I have met some of my best friends at concerts [and] through music,” said Lily Fields, senior.

57% of High School students report using music to de-stress in their day to day lives. The opportunity for music lovers to see their favorite artists live forms a deeper connection with artists and songs, as well as expanding one’s music taste as a result of concerts.

“I like going to concerts since music is very important to me in my life. I listen to music every day and constantly… concerts have helped me find new artists I enjoy and connect with songs more,” said Keira Dillon, senior.

The lively, high-energy nature of concerts allows music fans to let loose and escape from their day-to-day responsibilities. Singing and dancing along with peers at a concert creates a unique sense of unity between strangers. “The environment of concerts with flashy lights and loud music adds so much to the concert experience, allowing you to appreciate it more… artists are able to interact with the audience in between songs, making it feel more personal and enjoyable compared to only hearing music through a phone or a speaker,” said Keira Dillon, senior.

Concerts provide a solace for youth to not only further their connection with music, but to meet new people and build connections with like-minded people.
