Leesville Road High School chorus performed their annual singing valentines during first and second period on February 14.
Chorus groups gave a quick pause to learning to allow students to listen to a quick toon, while those who have received valentines enjoy their chocolate snack.
“My favorite part about the Valentines would be getting a few minutes off of class to hear people sing for others,” said Victoria Taton, senior.
Singing valentines were purchased online by students and faculty by scanning the QR codes found on posters around the school, or with cash during both A and B lunches at purchasing tables near the library. Money from singing valentines goes towards the chorus program for activities.
Singing valentines have been a tradition at Leesville for over 20 years, those receiving a valentine are presented with a Hershey’s chocolate bar, a note from their bestower, and of course, a song.
Although many people were pleased with the list of song choices, others were disappointed in the selection. Songs on this list included “Treasure” by Bruno Mars, “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful” by One Direction, “I’ll Be There For You” from the Friends TV Show, “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet boys, “Paper Rings” by Taylor Swift, and “I Love You Baby” by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.
“We’re getting rid of ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ next year which is disappointing. I’m sad to see it go but excited to add new songs to the selection,” said Aidan Fiander, sophomore.
Singing Valentines will take place again next year, so don’t forget to buy your valentine!
