On February 15, Leesville was set to take on Cardinal Gibbons in the semi-finals of the CAP-6 Tournament. This was the third matchup between the two teams this season. After Gibbons won the first two matchups, Leesville knew this would be an uphill battle against a talented team.

Throughout the course of the game, Leesville made an effort to get the ball to Grady Whitt, first team all-conference guard. He had been a reliable scoring option for Leesville all season with his deep bag of moves to get to the basket.

Things didn’t go as planned for the Pride in the first half. As a team, the Pride was unable to make 3 pointers and was struggling to stay out of foul trouble. Leesville found themselves down nine at the half.

Gibbons showcased their ability to shoot 3 point shots in this game. Their shooters got hot when it mattered most.

The Crusaders jumped out to a lead as big at 17 in the second half. After a short-lived comeback attempt from the Pride, Gibbons eventually pulled away for the win.

Leesville will have to wait to see who they will take on in the first round of the state playoffs. As of now, the Pride is expected to travel for their first game.
