Nathan Gamble has been a part of the Leesville Men’s Cross Country and Track teams for the past four years. Now, following four fall Cross Country seasons, four Winter Track seasons, and moving into his fourth Spring Track season, Gamble is a clear backbone for the team. Gamble leads the Pride in distance events, most recently at NCHSAA 4A States, where he placed fourth in the 3200. Gamble leads the team in practices and plans long runs through Umstead State Park, in addition to leading youth involvement in races across the city.

On April 24, Gamble signed to run Cross Country and Track with the University of Alabama. Alabama is currently ranked fifth in Division 1 by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Gamble’s teammates see him as a leader and role model for how to succeed through hard work and perseverance. One teammate, Nick Barefoot, will be attending Alabama with Nathan next year.

“It’s been an honor getting to train with Nathan for the last four years, and I’m so proud of him for committing!” said Barefoot. Barefoot typically trains with Gamble everyday after school for the last four years.

“I couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds for us,” said Barefoot.

Elizabeth Gamble, Nathan’s sister, isn’t a runner but is still extremely excited for her older brother.

“I will miss Nathan a lot, but I was so excited when he committed because Alabama is a great school. I’ll miss him because he was my best friend and always there to help me when I need it,” said Elizabeth Gamble.

Gamble is excited to start running for a D1 university next year. Roll Tide!
