National Technical Honors Society members were inducted earlier this year in March. The last meeting of the year was held May 13.

National Technical Honors Society, NTHS, had their last meeting of the year during SMART lunch on Friday May 13, 2016. NTHS honors the achievements of career and technical education (CTE) students. The honors society also works with seven student organizations, five of which we have here at Leesville: DECA, TSA, FBLA, SkillsUSA, and FCCLA.

Throughout the 2015-2016 school year, members completed a variety of service projects. A few of the volunteer opportunities they had were volunteering at Chick-Fil-A, stuffing holiday stockings for the less fortunate, and a highway clean up day.

Amanda Weaver, a junior at Leesville, hopes to continue service projects next year. “I hope to continue volunteering in the community through NTHS, [and] I hope to explore the possibility of visiting large technology companies or participate in more technology based activities,” said Weaver

Mrs. Laird, NTHS advisor, teaches personal finance, principles of business and finance, and entrepreneurship I at Leesville. Thirty-five new members were inducted in March at a ceremony ran by previous members.

“I hope we can continue to recruit members and grow the club allowing more students to benefit from CTE classes. NTHS has helped me grow my alliance with CTE teachers and supplied opportunities to serve the community in ways I may not have had access to without the club,” added Weaver

At the final meeting of the year, Chick-Fil-A donated two trays of food, and students brought in desserts, snacks and drinks as well as electing officers for the 2016-2017 school year.

National Technical Honors Society provides students an opportunity to work with other like-minded people that are interested in the same subjects as them.
