In a galaxy far far away… Lucasfilm created the Star Wars Saga, and the saga became one of the most popular ever created. On December 18th the seventh film in the saga will debut, some 38 years after the first movie hit the theaters.
The story itself will take place 30 years after the Return of the Jedi. This movie will introduce new leads, Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron but some of the original characters will still be in the film. The Rebel Alliance, now called the Resistance, will once again fight the growing power of Empire, now called the First Order. The announcement of the seventh Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, has taken America by storm. The movie has become the most anticipated and fastest selling movie of all time, in which Disney sold every pre-ordered ticket within ten minutes. Disney has also announced that they plan on making more films, one is said to be released in 2017 and another in 2019.
The Walt Disney Company bought Star Wars from Lucasfilm in 2012 for four billion dollars. Disney named J.J Abrams the director however George Lucas, the director of films one through six, wasn’t involved in the creation of the film. Abrams and Lucas disagreed on how the story should be told, and since Lucas lacked the authority to make these executive decisions he decided he would not to help in the creation of the film.
However this altercation has not swayed fans’ excitement. Some fans think Abrams has a lot to offer and are excited to see what he does with the film. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fanatic the movie will be filled with action, drama, suspense, and won’t be a waste of your time. And now I say to you: may the force be with you.
