Coach Hobgood leads sprints during his Weight training class. He hopes to teach each student skills to be used in the classroom, on the field and throughout life.

Leesville has started their 2014 football season with new players and even a new coach.

Coach Hobgood has been a football coach for over 15 years. He started coaching at Northern Durham, where he played in high school.

When asked what motivated him to become a high school football coach, he said, “I would work at a bank everyday and would drive by high schools and realize how much I missed football. I wanted to do something I truly enjoyed.”

Besides being the football coach, he is also a P.E. teacher at Leesville. He wants each of his students to “be a role model” for others and for each of them to try to be a “well-rounded person”.

“This was a good school to come to. It was a school that truly cared about football,” was Hobgood’s response when asked why he chose to come to Leesville. As coach, he wants to make sure that his players give their all and work hard everyday, even in the offseason. “To improve the team we have to stay on the grind and work hard in all of our practices.”

This will be Coach Hobgood’s tenth year as a head football coach.
