In convincing fashion, Leesville Men’s lacrosse team defeated Garner 12-1 and claimed the Cap-8 championship on Friday, May 2. Jeremy Fullbright, head coach, has coached his first Cap-8 champions this year. The team finished the season 14-1, their one and only loss to Broughton was avenged two days later.

The game was never in question, as Leesville got off to a 5-0 start through the first quarter. In fact, Garner did not score until 3:01 was left in the game.

“We relied on our younger guys to help the seniors and get the win,” said CJ Cox, senior co-captain .

For such a young program, Leesville’s lacrosse team has been extremely successful. Senior night was truly memorable, especially for those seniors who have seen the program grow from a relatively unknown club to perhaps the best athletic team at Leesville.

Proud parents and family of the senior students filled the stands as the seniors were honored during halftime. “It’s especially special for us, the guys who have been in the program since it started off as a club,” said Cox. “Finally having a good season, and we’re hoping to make a run in the playoffs.”
