After nine years of bruises, floor burns and pure fun, Zipporah Foster finally reached her dream to become a college volleyball player. At 17 years old, Foster has officially committed and signed to Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Her volleyball teammates, family members and Leesville staff gathered in the media center at 3:00 on Friday, May 17.

“I was surprised so many people actually showed up for me..it’s great,” said Foster, hugging a family member.

Foster has been a part of the Leesville volleyball program since she started playing. In fact, she first learned her skills at a Leesville camp, and she never knew Leesville would spark her love for volleyball.

Her freshman year, she played on JV. For the rest of her years at LRHS, Foster played on the varsity team.

At her signing, Mrs. Dobbin, the JV volleyball coach, expressed gratitude and congratulations to her “selfless” and “hard working” player for taking another step in her journey.

Foster also plays volleyball outside of school for Jammers Volleyball Club and played overseas in Australia in an international tournament.

Foster took her visit on March 22 and verbally committed to WSSU on April 18.

“I am going to meet to new people and make new friends while playing the sport that I absolutely love,” said Foster. “I couldn’t be more excited.”
