Varsity Baseball streak continues, 6-0

Tuesday, March 15, Leesville’s varsity baseball team competed against Enloe and against Broughton on Friday, March 18. The team successfully triumphed over both teams.

Matthew Saylor, junior and catcher, said, concerning Enloe, “They’re normally not too much of a challenge, but you can’t underestimate anybody.”

Shawn Ross, junior, commented that the team’s defence was especially strong on Tuesday; they made only one error.

“Our pitching – we just gave up,” said Ross. “Other than that, we didn’t have many mistakes.”

With a final score of 4-3, Leesville took the victory. “We expected it to come out differently, but we still got the win,” said Ross.

Leesville pummeled Broughton three days later with a final score of 13-0. Out of 27 at bats, the team had12 hits and scored 13 runs. “We’re really strong offensively – everyone can hit up and down the line up,” said Saylor.

We play Wakefield today [March 22],” said Mulligan. “Hopefully we can keep going.”
